Common Health Checkups in India and What They Cost in 2026

In India in 2026, a basic full body health checkup package usually costs between ₹500 and ₹2,000, and a comprehensive package runs about ₹1,500 to ₹5,000. Single tests are much cheaper. If you only want a few common ones, here is the rough at-home or lab price: a CBC (complete blood count) is around ₹300, a lipid profile (cholesterol) is around ₹250 to ₹800, an HbA1c (3 month sugar) test is around ₹360 to ₹650, and a thyroid profile is around ₹400 to ₹700. These are from labs like Healthians and Metropolis, so use them as a guide, not an exact bill.

So what do these tests actually tell you, in plain words. The CBC checks your blood for things like low haemoglobin (anaemia) or infection. The lipid profile checks your cholesterol, which matters for heart risk. HbA1c shows your average blood sugar over about three months, which is the simple way to spot diabetes early. The thyroid test checks if your thyroid is slow or fast, which can quietly cause weight, mood and energy problems.

Two more that many people add are Vitamin D (around ₹600 to ₹1,800) and Vitamin B12, often sold together as a combo from about ₹449. Low vitamin D and B12 are very common in India and can cause tiredness, weak bones and nerve problems, so they are worth knowing.

A quick money tip many people miss. Under Section 80D of the income tax law, you can claim up to ₹5,000 a year for preventive health checkups, and this even works if you do not have a health insurance policy. Just remember this ₹5,000 sits inside your total 80D limit, it is not an extra amount on top. You can pay in cash for this one, but keep a proper bill with your name, the date and the lab name.

Booking a package is almost always cheaper than buying each test one by one, but only pay for tests you actually need.

One honest warning. Labs run heavy discounts, so a package marked "₹8,000, now ₹1,888" is just normal pricing dressed up. Prices are also higher in big metro cities than in smaller towns. Pick a lab that is NABL accredited so the results are trustworthy, and ask your doctor which tests you really need before paying for a giant 90 test panel you will never read. This is general information, check the official source and your doctor before you act.
